Allen Akins is a highly sought national speaker, author, loving husband, and father. Allen strives to be a role model to his family and others. He helps students get a fast start on the right track to college, career, and leadership success. Allen successes and failures provide unique lessons delivered in interactive, enthusiastic, and hilarious presentations that provide guidance to others to help them overcome obstacles, develop or enhance leadership skills and to accept and use life's challenges as inspiration to be a better you.

Allen grew up in a single-parent home in a small Texas refinery town. His mother helped him to understand the value of hard work. Growing up, he witnessed too many cases of what falling short of your goals resembled. This motivated him to evolve from a struglling engineer student to an award winning Engineer. He works for a company that in 2010 Fortune Magazine named the #1 Most Admired Oil aned Gas Equipment/Service Companies.

Allen received his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lamar University. While at Lamar he worked full-time, was a memeber of his student government association, president of his Greek letter fraternity, and a starting quarterback of his intramural team. He also served as chair for his engineering organization. During his term, the organization had the greatest increase in membership and fundraising. These are just a few testaments to his passion and ability to reach people and motivate them to do more, expect more, and give back.

A devoted philanthropist, Allen is committed to engaging and motivating all students no matter their age! He volunteers as a tutor for local elementary school teacher. Volunteer for the local Junior Achievement. Allen's incredible life experiences, combined with his passion for helping students, have earned him the reputation of being the ideal speaker to bring to any campus.

Allen and his beautiful wife, Cicily, live in Houston, Texas along with their three children, Cameron, Trey, and Savana. In his free time he enjoys sports, reading, and furthering leadership development, both personally and professionally.
